DescriptionThe fireplace located on the Leahi (west facing) wall of the Mughal Gallery is carved from marble and capped with a half dome. This fireplace is based on a prototype from the Mughal Fort in Lahore. It was commissioned in 1965 from the Chishty Brothers in Lahore and installed at Shangri La in 1972, replacing the original fireplace created by the Delhi-based firm, C.G. and F.B. Blomfield. The original fireplace was a contemporary design that reflected trends in New Delhi.
