DescriptionThis pair of wooden doors is densely decorated with symmetrical geometric patterns, featuring 10-pointed stars and radiating polygons. Each shape is carved from a single piece of wood with beveled edges and a textured surface. The pieces are secured into a framework of lighter wood. On the back of the door, thicker pieces of wood overlap to provide further support.

Once part of a home in Ottoman-era Damascus, these doors were the original entryway into the qa’a, or reception hall.
