Ottoman Qur’ans were lavishly illuminated, embellished with glittering gold leaf. They were typically decorated with scrolling floral designs over gold or gold-and-blue grounds. This Qur’an is inscribed with a form of calligraphy called naskh. Naskh is one of the oldest styles of Arabic calligraphy, characterized by its small size and neat, fluid letters. The style was refined by prominent Ottoman calligrapher, Shaykh Hamdullah (1429-1520 CE) in the 1400s.</value></field><field label="Classifications" name="classification"><value>Manuscripts</value></field><field label="Width" name="width"><value>12.7000000000</value></field><field label="Height" name="height"><value>17.5000000000</value></field><field label="Depth" name="depth"><value>3.8000000000</value></field><field label="Id" name="id"><value>164696</value></field><field label="Source ID" name="sourceId"><value>4442</value></field></object>
